Most of you heard from us or followed us on facebook and know that getting to Disney World wasn't all that easy. And Juliette had nothing to do with it! December 11th...big-huge-ass-blizzard. Drove to airport in the blizzard (and made it there). We felt good once we were there and so make flights were cancelled, but not ours!! Dad even talked to the pilot and said we should be able to go because our plane is so automatic it doesn't even matter. And then the whole airpoirt shuts down at 1pm.
Ok. Not going to go home in this. Trying to figure out what is happening tomorrow...we get a flight out at 10 that connects in DC. Cool, I've never been to DC. Now for the plans for tonight... we called a few hotels and Brent finds one with 2 rooms on his third try. Score. It's a mile away from the MOA so we were just going to take the light rail there and then get a cab/shuttle to the hotel. Oh wait...cabs and shuttles aren't running? I issue an all points bulletin on fb (aka, I updated my status) saying we were at the MOA and not sure how we were going to make it to our hotel. Brent and Kristine's friend Pete had just picked up Alli from her job at the MOA and they saw my post, called Brent, and CAME BACK to pick us all up and drive us to the hotel!! Joey can never rip on me for fb again! (Wish I had taken a picture!!)
So we spent the night in the lovely Quality Inn in Bloomington. We had adjoining rooms, which was fun, and they had a nice breakfast (which is determined by the fact they had a waffle maker!).
Juliette loved the phone
room service? ok, it wasn't THAT nice...
this is where she learned to "dip"
video of her dip...pretty funny
MMC on the computer...close as we were going to get today! Her other love...brushing her teeth
So we take the (now running) shuttle to the airport for our 10am flight. We give a quick hello to Noelle and Rian, whose 7am flight had been cancelled, so they were taking a 10am flight through Connecticut to Orlando. See you soon :-) Or not. We got on the plane to DC and were all excited. Mom and I got lucky and there was an extra seat in our row so Juliette could sit by herself. Here she is:
Wow- we're so lucky!! Flight takes off, baby falls asleep...wow! This is going to be a cute little story to tell. UNTIL... 45 minutes in to the flight the pilot gets on the loud speaker, tells us we can't land in DC or anywhere around it (wind, rain, whatever...I just came from a blizzard) so we're going BACK TO MSP! That's right people, BACK TO MSP. This is when it no longer was a good story, and I cried. Just then the flight attendant asked if I wanted anything to drink (while I was obviously upset), um, no lady, I don't want a diet coke, I want to be in DW with my kid...yesterday! So, thanks to airplane wi-fi Brent was able to see what was up and get us on a direct flight to Orlando at 1pm. Well, 5 of us anyway. He and Kristine are on another reservation so they were on stand-by. We board not knowing if they will be with us, but they made it! Row 47! Soooo....we get to Orlando, where it's unseasonably cold, but we're there. We got on the magical express and Juliette was out!
DISNEY WORLD 2010 CAN OFFICIALLY START!!
